Littelfuse recently launched the first 0603-size 438 series fast-melting fuse, with rated operating temperature up to 150℃.
Following the launch of series 501 and 437 ceramic patch fuses this year, this product adds a new member to the ceramic fuse product line.
Like the 501 and 437 series, the 438 series fuse is suitable for electronic applications operating in high temperature environments.
In addition, the new fuse expands the dc circuit protection application, and is only a quarter of the size of the 437 series fuse, which can be used in extremely limited space.

Unlike other similar fuses, the 438 series ceramic patch fuses operate effectively at temperatures ranging from -55℃ to 150℃ without misoperation.
Compared with similar products on the market, the 438 series fuse has the rated temperature value of 20 percentage points higher, and has the ability to quickly respond to overcurrent, without misoperation caused by high excitation inrush current.

With the increasing popularity of electronic applications that operate in high temperature environments, there is a growing demand for high temperature resistant circuit protection, such as LCD backlight inverters, LCD televisions, LCD monitors, laptops, hard drives, XDSL modems, set-top boxes, and game consoles that can reach extreme temperatures.
The 438 series fuse has a high nominal melting heat energy (l2t) value up to 1.38a2s (6A current rating) and a high breaking capacity (up to 50A) throughout the current rating range (250mA to 6A), which allows the series to operate reliably over a wide range of temperatures and minimizes the number of false starts under instantaneous overload.

The 438 series has been UL and CSA certified and operates within current ratings ranging from 250mA to 6A for a wide range of applications.
Each fuse has a maximum fault current rating (interruption rating) of 50A and is 100% lead and halogen free and RoHS compliant.
